Malcolm Edridge

Managing Director

Malcolm has been involved in the contracting industry his whole life, including nearly 20 years in forestry roading and civil construction. Prior to joining Edridge Contracting in 2001 he held a variety of roles within Gough Cat including heavy diesel mechanic through to management roles nationally and as Branch Manager for the Marlborough / Nelson region.

Malcolm is currently the chairman of the Nelson / Marlborough Branch of the CCNZ which allows him to keep his finger on the pulse of the civil industry. As the Managing Director, Malcolm oversees the business as a whole and works closely with his managers to ensure operations run safely, smoothly and efficiently. He is actively involved in managing client relationships and is supported by an experienced leadership team.

Mike Edridge

Company Director

Mike has had nearly 50 years’ experience in roading and construction management. He managed a long-established Marlborough civil construction company, ZL Construction, for some 15 years prior to establishing Mike Edridge Contracting Ltd in 1987. Mike is the company mentor, and in this role he oversees all the business operations and makes use of the vast experience gained in his career to upskill the staff and ensure the work is carried out safely and is of the highest quality. He is also actively involved in the forestry sector of the business managing client relationships.

Steve Robinson

Marlborough Operations Manager

Steve has worked for Edridge Contracting since 2001 and has had nearly 40 years’ experience in the civil construction industry. Steve is also holds a CoC as an A Grade Quarry Manager, is a registered Certifying Drainlayer and has National Certificates in Contract Management and various other civil infrastructure qualifications. Along with his broad range of technical skills, Steve possesses great leadership and people management skills and has a solid understanding of industry safety practices, honed over years of working on and leading challenging civil projects. He is able to come up with effective, sensible solutions to difficult problems and has a long track record of making best use of any available resources.

Hamish Oldfield

Commercial Manager \ Nelson Operations

Hamish joined Edridge Contracting in 2016 after holding various roles within the civil construction industry including Directorships / General Manager and senior regional roles. Hamish has achieved a degree in Business Management and has a National Certificate in Highway Design and also in Pavement and Surfacing.

Hamish has more than 20 years civil industry experience starting with a labouring role in an asphalt crew and progressing through to his current role. This experience allows Hamish to fulfil his role as Commercial Manager supporting the operational crews and management team, he is heavily involved in contract management and provides an invaluable resource to ensure all aspects of the contract are realised.

Jono Leslie

Forestry Manager

Jono has worked for Edridge Contracting since 2012. He has had more than 13 years’ experience in the field of earthworks and civil construction, in particular in forestry environments. Jono holds National Certificates in Civil Plant Operation (road construction and earthworks).

Jono has previously also worked in the Forestry industry doing silviculture before moving into the earthworks side, building forestry roads and skid sites. Safety is Jono’s number one priority and along with his broad knowledge of the forestry industry and his technical skills, his calm, quiet demeanour makes him ideally suited to fill the Forestry Manager role within Edridge Contracting.

Ben Todd

Maintenance Manager

Ben has worked for Edridge Contracting since 2015 as the company’s Maintenance Manager, before this he worked in the marine industry, where he learned his trade, and prior to that in the mining industry in Australia.

He holds a National Certificate in Maintenance and Diagnostics in Mechanical Engineering and is always looking for innovative ways in which to solve problems. Problem solving and diagnostics are key skills which Ben possesses, this allows him to think on his feet while co-ordinating various service providers and maintenance staff to keep the fleet of over 50 items of heavy machinery, 20 trucks and trailers and 55 utes and other light vehicles fit for purpose and operational. As with all Edridge staff, safety is an important aspect in all decisions Ben makes in regard to maintenance.

Carol Robinson

Systems Manager

Carol has worked for Edridge Contracting since 2015 and has more than 15 years experience in managing safety, quality and training systems. Before joining Edridge Contracting she held compliance roles within Talley’s Group and Fonterra Cooperative Group. Carol holds a Bachelor’s Degree in science, a Post Graduate Diploma in business administration, has completed NEBOSH ICG and is ICAM trained. She is also a Technician member of the NZISM.

As Systems Manager Carol’s role is varied, the main focus is on maintaining and improving safety, quality and environmental systems as well as identifying continuous improvement initiatives within the business and working with the management team to roll out new systems and processes.

Mitchell Napier

Civil Project Manager

Mitch joined the Edridge Contracting team in 2018 and has built 11 years’ experience working in the civil construction industry in both NZ and Australia.

Before joining our team, Mitch completed a NZ Diploma in Engineering (Civil) which gives him a good base of technical knowledge to work from. His attention to detail and his structured, measured and highly organised approach makes him the ideal person to co-ordinate and manage the more technological aspects of civil engineering for Edridge Contracting. Mitch is also highly skilled in GPS survey and manages the machine control & site setup for our fleet of GPS enabled machines in Nelson. He is also involved in managing a variety of civil construction projects which includes liaising with clients, consultants and engineers and then communicating key information to the staff on the ground.

Kyle Paddon

Crushing Manager

Kyle joined the Edridge Contracting team in 2016 and has over 10 years experience in the Quarry and Aggregates Industries. Kyle holds a CoC as an A Grade Quarry Manager and has worked his way up the ranks, doing his time on the ground with Downer.

Kyle is heavily involved in all operational aspects of Edridge Crushing and Screening as well as managing client relationships alongside Malcolm. His farming background gives him a no-nonsense, practical approach to ensuring the various crushing and screening plants are fully utilised and his technical knowledge ensures our clients get in spec, quality product.

Kirsten Alloway

Company Accountant

Kirsten has been working with the family business since 2000 after returning home from the UK and Australia where she worked in trade marketing and accountancy roles. Kirsten holds a National Certificate in Business Studies and a Bachelor of Business Studies (Marketing) from Massey University.

Kirsten is responsible for the smooth operation of our Finance and Admin functions.

Chelsea Chang

Office Manager

Chelsea joined the Edridge Contracting team in 2020 following a career in hospitality and travel and running her own business. Chelsea is responsible for all of our office management including payables, invoicing and support for our management team. Chelsea holds a Bachelor in Management (Hospitality) from Wellington Institute of Technology.

Angee Edridge

Edridge Crushing and Screening Admin

Angee has been working in the business since the early days and is responsible for the admin and billing of our Edridge Crushing and Screening business. Prior to joining the team, Angee was a Law Clerk for Law firms in Nelson and Christchurch.
