Our Story

Mike Edridge Contracting Ltd (Edridge Contracting) was established in 1987 by Mike Edridge from humble beginnings with a small digger and Bedford truck. Over 30 years later the family run business has grown to be one of the top civil, earthmoving and quarrying businesses in the top of the south, renowned for providing good outcomes for their clients with a focus on quality, safety and environmental compliance.

The business is now owned and run by Mike’s son, Malcolm Edridge, and supported by a very capable team of over 85 staff and a large, modern fleet of equipment. Mike is still involved in the business in a high-level operations and mentoring role, along with his daughter Kirsten, who leads the admin and finance team. Edridge Contracting now operates from bases in Nelson and Blenheim with the equipment maintenance functions continuing to be carried out at our original Pelorus Bridge base.

Edridge Contracting is a civil contractor that carries out earthworks, roading, drainage, quarrying, heavy haulage, aggregate supply and forestry earthworks in the upper South Island. The company runs a large fleet of late model, well-maintained equipment (Caterpillar, Volvo, Scania and Mercedes) to support these activities, with the plant based in both Nelson and Blenheim.

Edridge Crushing and Screening was established in 2015 to complement Edridge Contracting and consists of three mobile crushing crews with quarries located in both Nelson and Marlborough.

Edridge Contracting has a highly professional and motivated team, striving to improve outcomes for both clients and business every day with an unwavering focus on quality, the environment and the safety of all. Staff training and performance, safety, quality, environmental sustainability and productivity are key drivers for this family owned and run business. Edridge Contracting and are pre-qualified with the Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman District Councils.
